The “Taki to Kawasemi” (Kingfisher & Waterfall) Maki-e fountain pen is the second of Ikki Moroike’s “Taki to Shizen”” (Waterfalls and Nature) Series of maki-e pens.
Based on the ebonite King of Pen, the design shows a kingfisher at the bottom of a waterfall,
The kingfisher is a bird found throughout the world, and is treasured in Japan as a symbol of plenty. The design captures the iridesence of thier bright feathers.
