Yard-O-Led hand-craft these beautiful pens in their factory in the Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham (UK). The company has been following a path of excellence since it was founded by L F Brenner to manufacture his patented propelling pencil to a design that held twelve 3″ leads in one go, so as one was finished, the next dropped into its place. Twelve times three inches is, of course, 36″, or one yard – hence the company’s name of “Yard-O-Led”.

Since then, Yard-O-Led have moved into the luxury pen market, and all of their products are now hand-crafted is solid sterling silver, assayed and hallmarked in Birmingham, not far from their factory.

The Yard-O-Led Viceroy Grand Barley Rollerball is a truly magnificent pen, as you will see from our photographs above. It is a solid-feeling pen with which to write, and sits comfortably in the hand despite its weight. If you can bear to post such a glorious creation, the cap is not overly heavy and will not out-balance the pen.
