Visconti Divina Black

The Divina Black family of luxury writing instruments share the Divina family’s connection to the ‘Divine Ratio’ or ‘Golden Number’ (1.618). This number applies to any rectangle where the ration of the shorter side to the longer is the same as the ratio of the longer side to the sum of the two sides. This may sound complicated, but when a rectangle that follows these rules – and the ratio is always 1.618 – is used in building, then architects and designers have discovered that people feel comfortable that it is “right”. The Divina Black has this same irrational number built into its design, inasmuch as the Visconti Divina Black fountatin pen and Visconti Divina Black rollerball have pen bodies that are 1.618 times the length of the cap.

In the case of all the Divina Black writing instruments, the golden number also governs the shape of the five contrasting pearlescent resin threads that spiral around the body, contrasting also with the silves appointments that are in such contrast to the highly-polished deep black lucite resin.

The Visconti Divina Black ballpoint and the Visconti Divina Black pencil use a twist action to extend or retract the point, but it should be noted that Visconti have ensured that the spirals always stay continuous! The same is true of the fountain pen and rollerball pen, which use the Visconti push-and-twist bayonet-style lock to keep their caps securely in place when not in use.

The elegant style of these luxury pens and pencil shout (in a refined way, of course), “Made in Italy”, and the unique Ponte Vecchio arched clip says “Visconti”.

The Visconti Divina Black family includes an oversize fountain pen, medium fountain pen, rollerball pen, ballpoint pen, and mechanical pencil. The fountain pens are also available in special boxed sets including a uniquely-produced set of calipers that allows one to measure “golden” or “divine” ratios.
