The Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Oversized Fountain Pen is a mighty writing instrument indeed! Even then, this pen’s solidity makes it a comfort to hold, especially combined with the most unusual material of which it is made.

In common with all the “Early Ages of Man” pens from Visconti, this Bronze Age pen is manufactured from volcanic lava. This lava is taken from Mount Etna, in Sicily, which may be the most continuously active volcano in the world. Though it’s not exactly on Visconti’s doorstep, they take the solidified lava from Etna, grind it, and mix with modern resins to produce an extremely tough material from which these extraordinary pens are made. They have a soft, warm feel in the hand, and because the material is slightly hygroscopic, it also feels very dry.

As its name suggests, the Visconti Homo Sapiens Bronze Age over-sized fountain pen has bronze accompaniments, and is fitted with the Visconti Dreamtouch 18k gold nib, available in a range of sizes. In terms of style, this luxury writing instrument could only be made in Italy, especially considering the characteristic Ponte Vecchio arched bridge clip that is one of Visconti’s trademarks. It also features Visconti’s brilliant “push and twist” cantilever bayonet system that keeps the pen and the cap firmly attached whilst in pocket or bag.
