    Information

The Sailor 1911 Maki-e Tsuru Navy Blue fountain pen, like many pens made in Japan is a superb example of how a luxury writing instrument ought to be. It uses a subdued background with a vivid illustration of Maki-e (蒔絵) featuring cranes in flight.

The Crane (Grus japonensis, or 丹頂鶴 ) is a semi sacred bird in Japan and other eastern asian cultures. It is said that a favour done to a crane will always be returned.

As with all Sailor 1911s, this fountain pen features everything that one would expect - the accompaniments are 14 carat gold-plated (as with the conventional Sailor 1911), and the nib is Sailor's beautifully-smooth 14 carat gold, in this case available only in Fine.

What marks this pen out of the ordinary is the beautiful representation of Cranes ascending. Write Here are pleased to make the Sailor 1911 Maki-e Tsuru Navy Blue Fountain Pen for sale online. We will normally ship by return of post. For more specialised pens, as this one, we may ask you to await a shiping time of 4-7 days,
