Onoto Aviator Vermeil Pen

The Onoto Aviator Vermeil Pen is a tribute by Onoto to the Supermarine S6B, the winner of the third Schneider Trophy race. Milled in solid sterling silver and plated with 23 carat gold, this pen is a luxurious writing instrument to look at and to hold, as sleek and beautiful as the fuselage of the aircraft it commemorates.

The golden barrel of the Onoto Aviator is fluted to the design of the S6B, which in the aircraft helped with airflow smoothing, but which in the pen helps with the grip and lightens the barrel without compromising its strength. The smooth end hood carries the pen’s hallmarks, and the end of the barrel is stamped with the limited-edition number. As with all of their pens, the Onoto Aviator Vermeil Pen carries the words “ONOTO the PEN” and “Made in England” on its barrel.

The cap of the Onoto Aviator Vermeil Pen has 23-carat gold plated fittings, comprising the cap button that features the whirling propellor of the S6B, and the characteristic Onoto clip bearing their cipher and the distinctive triple-chevron pattern that harks back to Onoto’s 1930s pens.

The nib fitted to the Onoto Aviator Vermeil Pen is their wonderful number 7 in 18 carat gold, in Fine, Medium, or Broad, but if you choose “Modified Nib“, then Onoto will hand-make you almost any imaginable nib. This pen can also be supplied with a rollerball conversion kit in sterling silver, again plated with 23 carat gold. This is in addition to the fountain pen nib, allowing to change your pen to a rollerball simply by unscrewing one tip from the barrel (as you would to replace the cartridge) and screwing in the other.
