Magnani 1404 Italia C (glued on 4 sides)

A fine paper from Magnani of Italy. This paper is made from 100% cotton fibres, weighs 300g/m2 and is acid-free, making it ideal for watercolour, gouache and acrylic paints.
Italia CDS is a cold-pressed paper, so it has a smoother surface than the Toscana DS paper, but still has a degree of ‘tooth’ that will hold dry media.
Each pad contains 20 sheets, which are glued on four (4) sides to form a block.

Magnani have been making fine papers in Italy since 1404 - hence the number in the company title. The Magnani paper mills are on the banks of the Pescia river that has been famous for its clear waters, an essential requirement for the production of paper. By the 18th century, Magnani were exporting their papers around the world, and in Europe could count most of the crowned heads of state amongst their customers. Magnani have produced specialist, 'personalised', papers for artists such as Picasso, De Chirico, Guttuso, Annigoni, Maccari, Bueno, Guarnieri, and Morandi.
