Yard-O-Led Pencil Lead refills are three inches long, and come in packs of twelve. That's 36", or 1 yard - hence "Yard O'Led".

Yard-o-Led ship their mechanical pencils with HB leads, but if you prefer something harder, then these H refills are for you.

Yard-O-Led are Britain's leading producers of solid silver writing instruments. The company was founded in London, England, in 1934 by L F Brenner, to produce his patented propelling pencils, each containing twelve 3-inch leads , so the company's current products conform to their founder's vision. After World War II the company merged with Sampson Mordan Ltd whose founder had patented the first mechanical pencil in 1822. The enlarged Yard-O-Led moved to Birmingham and absorbed Edward Baker Ltd, another pencil maker, in their new factory in the Jewellery Quarter.

The pencil shown in the photograph with these H leads is the Yard-o-Led "Shropshire" silver mechanical pencil.
