Murakumo, in Japanese means Gathering clouds, a name that evokes images of an ever changing sky, one thickening with darkening clouds that swirl and shift unpredictably in an endless gestural dance,

it’s from this motion, the movement of air, and the combination of light and dark that has inspired the Scribo Hane Murakumo, each pen has had layers of lacquer carefully applied by master Japanese artisans, then this freshly applied lacquer is held over a dancing flame, allowing the swirling dance of the candle smoke to decorate the body of the pen as though it was ink on a page, allowing the Murakumo to capture a single moment of time, and a single movement in this elemental dance, the lacquer is then left in its rawest state, without sandpaper or polishing powders it’s allowed to harden and form a soft satin surface that forever captures the delicate pattern of rising smoke.

When each pen has been deemed perfect by the Urushi master, it can return to Bologna Italy to receive it’s beating heart, The nib. Scribo’s world class gold nibs are available in either 14ct or 18ct gold, velvety smooth and perfectly fluid, Scribo envisions the experience of writing as a connection with the soul, and creates their nibs with a reverence that’s well earned.

Each pen arrives in a gift box, tucked inside a handcrafted pouch made from authentic Japanese Kimono silks. a gesture that extends the connection between Italian heart and Japanese soul, allowing the pen to continue to tell its story, even when not in use.
