The Onoto Emma Hamilton Sterling Silver Pen commemorates Admiral Nelson’s famous love, Lady Emma Hamilton. Crafted in sold sterling silver, this pen is a wonderfully luxurious writing instrument to behold, though much more delicate than the Onoto Horatio Nelson, and thus more suited to those with smaller hands. As with the Nelson fountain pen, the silver used in the making of the Onoto Emma Hamilton is “Victory Silver”, retrieved from HMS Victory, and the tiny amount of copper included in the sterling silver to improve its malleability, in this pen also comes from Victory.

The silver barrel of the Onoto Emma Hamilton is engine-turned in a pattern of transverse waves that are not only decorative but also help with the grip of the pen. The smooth end hood carries the sterling silver hallmarks, and the end of the barrel is stamped with the limited-edition number. As with all of their pens, the Onoto Emma Hamilton Sterling Silver Pen carries the words “ONOTO the PEN” and “Made in England” on its barrel.

The cap of the Onoto Emma Hamilton fountain pen is a vision of sterling silver, engine turned with the encircling wave pattern and coated in powder blue enamel. The cap finial button is gold plated, bearing the Cross of Saint George that Lady Hamilton wore in Nelson’s favourite miniature of her. Below this is a band of polished sterling silver and the gold-plated clip ring, carrying the clip (also gold plated) that bears Onoto’s cipher and characteristic triple chevron pattern. Opposite the clip is an oval plaque bearing a facsimile of Lady Hamilton’s signature and her birth- and death-dates. The cap band is in polished silver, but carries upon it a broad gold-plated band patterned with fouled anchors that separate alternating cartouches bearing the names “Nelson” and “Bronte” (This from the embroidery on the dress Lady Hamilton (somewhat scandalously) wore to the ball that welcomed Nelson back to Malta from the Battle of the Nile. The use of “Bronte” is because Nelson was en-nobled as the first Duke of Bronte.

The nib fitted to the Onoto Emma Hamilton Sterling Silver Pen is their number 3, in 18 carat gold, in Fine, Medium, or Broad, but if you choose “Modified Nib“, then Onoto will hand-make you almost any imaginable nib. Write Here will contact you if you choose the modified nib option to determine your requirements.

This pen can also be supplied with a rollerball conversion kit in sterling silver. This is in addition to the fountain pen nib, allowing to change your pen to a rollerball simply by unscrewing one tip from the barrel (as you would to replace the cartridge) and screwing in the other.

We at Write Here are pleased to make the Onoto Emma Hamilton Sterling Silver Pen available for sale online.
