The engraving adorned on the Mayflower ballpoint is a delicate floral design, that entwines around the barrel, stopping at the base of the section by using Yard-O-Leds 19th century hand chasing technique.

The pen and pencil are a fresh and modern take on Yard O Led’s revered style. The flowers are English roses which, with their buds and leaves, curl around the silver barrel in a style reminiscent of an English country dance.

The Mayflower rose is found in many an English country garden. It may have grown in in the garden of James Watt’s villa in Regent Place, where the Yard o Led factory is now based in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter, which was established from 1780, and into which the Yard O Led workshop has recently moved. James Watt was the inventor of the steam engine and seen as the father of the Industrial Revolution.

Mayflower is also the name of the British ship that took the Pildrim Fathers to the new land of America, ‘

The Mayflower’ nods to Yard O Led’s increased foreign export, today selling into over twenty territories worldwide.
