Visconti Rembrandt Rollerball Pen
For 2018, Visconti have introduced three new variants of the Rembrandt family, styled “Master of Arts”. The new versions of the Visconti Rembrandt Rollerball pens are slightly different from the previous members of the family, as they have highlights in other colours, rather than just the variance of chiaroscuro shade, as in the previous versions. The new colours are Dark Forest, Eclipse, and Twilight; we would try to describe them, but the pictures do it better. Because of the process involved in molding the resin for these pens, each Visconti Rembrandt Rollerball pen in these new colours will be completely individual.
The Visconti Rembrandt is made from variegated resin, with platinum plated trim. It is available in black, white blue and red. The innovative magnetic cap-lock system works brilliantly – why aren’t more pens made like this? It fills using a cartridge or converter, which can be purchased separately.
We say: Rembrandt’s paintings are characterized by luxuriant brushwork, rich colour, and a mastery of chiaroscuro. He’d have liked this! The Rembrandt is a fantastic entry level pen to the Visconti range. The vibrant variegated resin captures the spirit of Rembrandt, whilst the appointments and finish suggest an opulence not usually found in this price range. It is not a big pen, but has satisfying weight and good balance.

This is an eco-roller pen that uses Visconti cartridges and converters. When using a converter, this may be filled through the nib or directly from the bottle.
Note that, if you fill a converter from the bottle before using the pen for the first time, starting the roller may take half the contents of the converter (which is one reason this pen does not easily run dry!) so for the first filling it may be better to fill through the nib.
A source at Visconti is reported as saying that the Schmidt eco-roller tip is good for 20-30 refills before it will need attention.
