Aka, in Japanese means red. A essential name chosen for the colour and purity that defines this new Urushi pen from Scribo. Fundamentally important to Japanese culture and tradition it symbolises, Life, Passion, and Good luck. The bright vermillion colour is the iconic shade of Shrines and Torii gates, deeply spiritual and iconic archways that mark the threshold between the everyday world and the spiritual realm.
Scribo continue their connection with the ancient art of Japanese Lacquerwork, Each Piuma Aka is a celebration of the passion and talent of the Urushi artist and the thousands of hours of work dedicated to honing their craft. Each layer of Urushi lacquer is applied by hand, patently dried and then polished to a mirror sheen, this process is repeated over and over until the pen takes form, the brilliant glossy surface and bright vibrant colour holds hidden depth that no other material can capture.
Each pen receives one of Scribo’s gold nibs, either in 14ct or 18ct gold. Made in Bologna, and tuned until velvety smooth and perfectly fluid, each nib is its own work of art, envisioned by Scribo as a window into the soul of each pen.
Each pen arrives in a gift box, tucked inside a handcrafted pouch made from authentic Japanese Kimono silks. a gesture that extends the connection between Italian heart and Japanese soul, allowing the pen to continue to tell its story, even when not in use.
