Sailor Precious Wood Japanese Quince Karin fountain pen is the latest in Sailor’s “Precious Woods” collection, made of rare woods and superbly complimented by understated gold accompaniments that allow the beauty of the wood to speak for itself.

Quince Karin (or “Chinese Quince” – Pseudocydonia sinensis) is a tree with blonde wood that shows its grain well in this pen. Known as Mugua in its native China, and Karin (花梨) in Japanese, its wood is also traditionally used for Shamisen, a type of 3-string lute made in Japan.

The entire barrel and cap of the Sailor Precious Wood Japanese Quince Karin fountain pen is made of wood, but with a smooth black lacquer section that makes this unusual and luxurious writing instrument a joy to use. Whilst we have given a posted length for this pen (see the Additional Information tag) we wouldn’t really recommend posting it to avoid scratching the beautiful polish on the barrel. It is fitted with one of Sailor’s superb 14 carat gold nibs, available in Fine only.
