Manyo ink is based on the Collection of Ten Thousand Leaves, a well known and revered compilation of poetry in Japan. Stretching over four centuries, there are over 4,500 poems of various themes including love, the seasons, nature ect.
Sailor called this range “Manyosyu” meaning people of all ranks, as the poems were written by all kinds of people from Emperors to merchants to farmers. Each colour has been given a name based on different flowers that are mentioned throughout this poetry compilation.
