Sailor 1911 Maki-e Maiko Ivory Fountain Pen
Sailor 1911 Maki-e Maiko Ivory Fountain Pen
The Sailor 1911 Maki-e “Maiko” Ivory fountain pen (The “Apprentice Geisha”) is one of Sailor’s 1911 Maki-e range. Maki-e” means, literally, “sprinkled picture”. The design on the barrel of this pen, created for Sailor by Mr Kosen Oshita, is screen printed and hand finished by. The pen’s accompaniments are in 14 carat gold, in common with all the 1911 Maki-e range.
Based on resin, the Sailor 1911 Maki-e Maiko Ivory fountain pen is not overly heavy (around 16½ grams) but we would recommend not posting the cap whilst writing to avoid scratching the lacquer of the pen body with the cap’s screw fitting.
The nib is 14 carat gold Medium – slightly finer than a European M.
