Rohrer and Klingner have been making excellent quality inks since 1892, with a focus on sustainable naturally sourced materials. Iron Gall ink is a permanent ink typically made from Iron Salts and Tannic acids, often sourced from Oak Galls. Unlike a typical ink which applies dye or pigment to paper, Iron Gall inks Oxidize on the page, forming a chemical reaction that changes the colour of the words on the page. it’s for this reason that Iron gall ink is one of the longest used archival inks throughout history and continues to be popular today.
