Onoto Magna Classic Burgundy Pearl & Gold Fittings fountain pen

The Onoto Magna Classic Burgundy Pearl & Gold Fittings fountain pen is reminiscent of a full-bodied red wine – definitely a burgundy, not a Bordeaux.

The cap and the barrel of this pen are made of the most durable acrylic resin, in this case in a beautiful pearlescent burgundy lacquer that shines by candle light. The cap finial hood and the section are in black lacquer.

The cap is trimmed with gold-plated sterling silver fittings, including the clip that features the Onoto cipher and chevrons that are characteristic of Onoto pens since their inception, together with the distinctive triple cap bands and the Onoto cipher on the finial button. The end of the barrel also features a sterling silver button, also plated with gold.

As is the case with all Onoto pens, the Onoto Magna Classic Burgundy Pearl & Gold Fittings fountain pen is marked on the barrel as “ONOTO the PEN” and “Made in England“”.

The pen is a cartridge / converter descendant of the Onoto Magna design that was first produced in 1937, and there are thus the usual variety of nibs available on your Onoto Magna Classic Burgundy Pearl & Gold Fittings fountain pen, including (of course) Onoto’s excellent steel nib, partially plated in gold, or a full 18 carat gold nib in Fine, Medium and Broad. However, you have the option of replacing the standard nib with one to suit your hand and writing, because Onoto will hand-produce a nib that matches your specification.

Although perfectly balanced at 32 grams, Onoto will add an extra seven grams for you if you prefer a weightier pen.

This pen can also be supplied with a rollerball conversion kit in acrylic resin and silver. This is in addition to the fountain pen nib, allowing to change your pen to a rollerball simply by unscrewing one tip from the barrel (as you would to replace the cartridge) and screwing in the other. NOTE that this option is not compatible with the extra weight option, so please do not choose both in the options list.
