Diplomat Aero Ballpoint Pen
The Diplomat Aero ballpoint pen is a celebration of the anniversary of the first flight of Graf von Zeppelin’s LZ1 airship in 1900. As such it is very much “airship-shaped”, tapering out from either end to a bulbous centre that places the centre of gravity firmly within the hand where it is most comfortable. As part of the aeronautical design, the pen has longitudinal grooves, or hollows, that mimic a dirigible but also serve to reduce the weight of the pen and improve the grip.
The Diplomat Aero ballpoint pen is made entirely of anodised aluminium, giving it a high degree of shock-proofing – though obviously not indestructible, the Aero family are tough and durable. As with other members of this family, the Diplomat Aero ballpoint pen comes in five variants, four in anodised aluminium in various colours and, most recently, the “Factory Finish” version that is in what Diplomat call “raw” shiny aluminium.
The clip, finial and tip surrounds of the Diplomat Aero ballpoint pen are in a complimentary colour, with silver for the brown and matt silver versions, and black for the others. The Diplomat name and “Made in Germany” are reproduced around the waist band of the pen in a modernistic typeface that well suits the design, and Diplomat’s eight-lobed logo appears on the finial, looking enchantingly like a propellor for the airship.
The Diplomat Aero is a twist-action ballpoint pen, with a decisively firm movement. Write Here can supply authentic Diplomat refills for it, but the pen will also take standard Parker refills.
