Visconti Homo Sapiens Elegance Oversized Fountain Pen

The Visconti Homo Sapiens Elegance Oversized Fountain Pen is unlike previous fountain pens in the Homo Sapiens range. Rather than being made from bits of Mount Etna it is made in a deeply-polished black resin with palladium accompaniments – truly a move into the Age of Elegance from the dark, bronze and steel ages that have gone before. Even without the ground lava in the resin, this is a solid pen in the hand and, as with many of Visconti’s Oversize writing implements, some may find writing with the cap posted gives too much weight at the top end.

Made in Italy – where else, given the ‘Ponte Vecchio‘ arched-bridge clip? – the Visconti Homo Sapiens Elegance Oversized fountain pen is truly a luxury pen. As with its cousins in the Homo Sapiens family, and other top-end Visconti pens, the Elegance version features the unique push-and-twist bayonet locking system that keeps the cap securely on the pen (and vice versa whilst it’s clipped in the pocket) without the vast amount of twisting and twisting that comes with a screw thread. This system also means that there isn’t a huge step between the barrel and the section to annoy the fingers when one is writing for any period of time.

The Visconti Homo Sapiens Elegance Oversize fountain pen is filled by unscrewing the barrel and twisting the top of its captive converter inside. It is supplied with the beautifully-engraved 23kt palladium ‘DreamTouch’ nib, available in Fine, Medium and Broad, and Exftra-Fine and 1.3 Stub, though there is an extra cost for these last two (and please contact us for availability before ordering).

For 2018, Visconti are producing a version of this pen that features the less expensive steel “Skeleton” tubular nib. This also is available in Fine, Medium and Broad, or Extra-Fine and 1.3 Stub at extra cosst.
