Sailor Precious Wood Old Teak Fountain Pen

£300.00 excluding VAT - £250.00

The Sailor Precious Wood Old Teak Fountain Pen is indeed made from teak, though it is doubtful whether it is old teak, in the sense of forest teak rather than plantation-produced wood. The heartwood of Tectona Grandis is a warm, yellowish-brown colour (though this can change with age or with over-exposure to sunlight) that is extremely fine-grained, as is shown in the beautiful smoothness of the cap and barrel of this pen. Interestingly, the heart-wood of the teak tree contains natural oils that make it resistant to termite infestation.

As with all of the ‘Precious Woods’ family, the Sailor Precious Wood Old Teak Fountain Pen has gold-plated accompaniments, consisting of clip, cap band, barrel waist band and barrel finial band. The restraint – almost minimalism – of these fitting emphasises the beautiful texture of the wood. The nib is Sailor’s 14 carat gold, in Fine only, with the usual excellence and smoothness of writing that we have come to expect in these writing instruments made in Japan.

The Sailor Precious Wood Old Teak fountain pen will accept cartridges, but is supplied with a converter to allow the use of bottled ink.

Despite the picture above, we would not recommend posting the cap of this pen, to avoid scratching the finish of the barrel.
