Montegrappa Blazer Fountain Pen

The Montegrappa Blazer fountain pen is a most distinctive writing instrument. The pen body and cap are made of steel – which we admit doesn’t sound exciting – but it’s what Montegrappa do to it afterwards that makes pen a real beauty!

After it has been crafted in solid steel, the Montegrappa Blazer fountain pen is subjected to the flames in the form of a blow-torch, giving it a “blued” steel patina that is unique to each pen. This process results in a beautiful rainbow of colours on the pen body and cap that has to be seen to be appreciated.

The Montegrappa Blazer fountain pen is based on the Fortuna shape, but with its cap, body and trim made, appropriately, of polished hand-torched stainless steel. The surface of the pen barrel and cap basks in iridescent shades, just as a heated metal would do.

The matt silver clip features the roller wheel on its end that avoids damage to silk shirts and jacket linings, like so many other pens made in Italy. The cap finial of the Montegrappa Blazer fountain pen features the “1912” button commemorating the company’s founding, and their name appears in script on the broad cap band and on the nib.

The section and the nib of the Montegrappa Blazer fountain pen are made of brushed-finish steel and the nib – as well as featuring the scripted ‘Montegrappa’ trade mark – is decorated with an intricate filigree. The Montegrappa Blazer’s steel nib is available in Fine, Medium, or Broad.
