The Visconti Titanic Limited Edition has been created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the tragic loss of the RMS Titanic 1n 1912.
The pen was commissioned by the National Museums of Northern Ireland, to which half the commissionis donated, so I'm afraid that this one won't be discounted.
Not that it should be, anyway. The pictures are mine, and therefore not very good. Although at first sight this looks like a plain blue pen, the resin is quite extraordinary. There are subtle highlights embedded in it of lighter blues and purples - very much like the films one sees of the deep ocean, where strange creatures stray into the edge of vision, only to flick away, out of sight.
It is a fountain pen, 18 carat gold nib, brass appointments (I think) power filler piston filling system. The clip is pivoted, is decorated with an image of the Titanic and features a pearl, representing the iceberg. The top of the cap has another image of the ship, and the inscription "RMS Titanic, April 10th - 16th 1912". The cap band is inscribed "RMS Titanic 100". The base of the pen is inscribed with its number.
It is a pretty magnificent pen, a perfect item for the collector.
