Visconti was founded in Florence in 1988, with the intention of creating exquisite writing instruments using traditional materials and techniques. A new writing instrument entered the market: Ragtime. This pen's novel design, filling system and name immediately set it part from the rest. . Ragtime is the music that at the end of 19th century set the basis for Jazz. In the same way it set the tone for Visconti, and for 7 years was at the heart of Visconti production. It and was widely appreciated by collectors and brand supporters.
1n 2008, after twenty years, Visconti revised the technical drawings and updated them, renovated the old moulds for clips and modifyed them with new engravings. The construction philosophy is the same: an elegant pen built with craftsman's precision, turned from single bars and sold at a reasonable cost.
This special edition of the Ragtime celebrates twenty years of Visconti production. It has a very special detail for any pen lover: the cap, turned in one piece, is provided with two 14 KT solid gold rings, which are externally force-fit on it as a support, according to an ancient expertise, well known to the Visconti technicians. The Ragtime Anniversary is a limited edition and numbered on the basis of the company foundation year: 1988 fountain pens, 1988 rollers, 1988 ballpoints.
This set of all three Ragtime pens has the fountain pen (with piston filling mechanism), roller and ball pen, including three stones (onyx, pearl and tiger's-eye) to set on the top of the cap with the special tool included. The set comes in the Nautilus pen case, given free by Visconti, normally retailed at £230. The edition is limited to 1,000 examples.
We say: an extremely attractive set of pens, much coveted by at least one member of my family. Good value, too, but I'll need to sell a few before I can afford to indulge those near and dear to me!
